The neighbourhood of Fernwood is known throughout Victoria as a warm, creative, and engaged neighbourhood.
The commercial hub of the neighbourhood radiates out from the intersection of Gladstone and Fernwood Roads. This is where you’ll find the Belfry Theater, The Fernwood Inn, The Cornerstone Cafe, and She Said Gallery and other funky retailers.
Lots of Victoria’s neighbourhoods hold an annual summer festival, but none hold a candle to the shaker known as FernFest. It’s one of only dozens of community initiatives and events that prove the community feeling in Fernwood is in a league of its own.
The Fernwood Inn
A perennial favourite, the Fernwood Inn is a very popular neighbourhood eaterie and watering hole. With it’s funky decor and welcome to families you’lll find yourself becoming a regular face within no time.
The Belfry Theater
With up to 12 lays put on per year, The Belfry’s mission is “to produce theatre that generates ideas and dialogue, and that makes the audience see the world a little differently.”
The Cornerstone Cafe
Cornerstone Cafe bustles with customers, discussion and live music. It’s also an example of grassroots social entrepreneurism in action as the Fernwood Neighbourhood Resource Group bought the building to set up the cafe and it’s now a major source of revenue for the non-profit.
